Planting Ideas, Growing Futures: The Sunflower Project Brings Hands-On STEAM and Gardening to Students Nationwide

The Sunflower Project, a program of Unstoppable Future Corporation, is working to help students across the United States learn to grow their own food through hands-on STEAM education activations.

Working with national and community collaborators, the program aims to give young people practical skills they can use at school and at home.

Growing Across the Country

In summer 2026, we supported programs reaching 2,000 students in Michigan and West Virginia.

In Flint and Genesee County, Michigan, 1,500 students participated through Berston Field House and Cultivating Our Community at Genesee County Parks.

In Martinsburg, West Virginia, 500 students received garden kits and educational opportunities through the Martinsburg Roundhouse and For the Kids, by George Children's Museum.

The program and its collaborators will expand to reach an additional 3,000 students through approximately 100 schools nationwide, bringing the program's 2026 reach to 5,000 students across all 50 states for 2026.

The Sunflower Project was created to connect young people with STEM and STEAM education, sustainability, healthy living, and real-world learning.

By bringing together national resources and trusted local organizations, we're building a model that can grow from individual classrooms and community centers to communities across the country.

Our goal is simple: give more young people the opportunity to learn by doing, grow something themselves, and discover what's possible.
